Our Charity of the Year: Go Beyond

24th Sept 2026

Every year we receive a lot of requests from charities, schools and good causes. They're all worthwhile, and we wish we could say yes to every one. We've found that spreading ourselves thin doesn't do anyone much good, though. So instead we pick one charity each year and put our full support behind it.

For 2026, that charity is Go Beyond.

Who are Go Beyond?

Go Beyond is a UK children's charity whose motto is "giving breaks that last a lifetime." You might know them by their old name, CHICKS. For more than 32 years they've given free week-long breaks to children who are facing tough times at home. That includes young carers looking after a poorly parent, children growing up with food insecurity, and children who are struggling at school or with friendships.

In that time they've given breaks to more than 22,000 children. In 2025 alone they gave 1,103 breaks.

What happens on a Go Beyond break?

Children aged 8 to 13 are referred by a teacher, social worker or youth worker. They then spend a week away with up to 15 other children. The breaks are completely free for families.

During the week they're outdoors as much as possible: splashing in rivers in their wellies, building dens, climbing and sitting round the campfire. It's also a phone-free week, so they can switch off, make friends and just be kids. Many of them go home more confident than they arrived.

The support carries on after the break, too. Each child takes home a "Go Be You" bag full of photos, diaries and certificates. They get a birthday card and a Christmas present over the following year, and some are invited back.

Why Go Beyond?

We think this cause fits us really well. Everything we do at Camel Creek is about getting families outdoors, having adventures and making memories together. Go Beyond gives that same chance to children who might otherwise never get it.

It's close to home, too. Go Beyond's Coastal Centre is right here in Cornwall, in Tywardreath, about a mile from the beach, so children there can have a go at surfing. Supporting Go Beyond means supporting children in our own county.

How we're supporting them

This year we've set up donation collection points at our tills, so every visitor can help if they'd like to. Whether it's your spare change or a bit more, every penny goes to Go Beyond and helps pay for more children's breaks.

We're also welcoming groups of Go Beyond children to the park throughout the year. They'll get a full day of adventure with us, whether that's meeting the animals, exploring the rides or running wild in the play areas. It's the kind of fun, carefree day that Go Beyond is all about, and we can't wait to be part of their week.
